
Maternity leave for women is being extended to 24 weeks ![]() Maternity leave for women is being extended to 24 weeksThe Grand National Assembly of Turkey convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan to discuss the "Draft Law on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Other Laws," which includes provisions on maternity leave and a 15-year age limit for social media use. Following discussions on unscheduled speeches, one-minute addresses by members of parliament, assessments by deputy group leaders, and motions submitted to the Assembly Presidency by political party groups, the debate on the draft law commenced. Three more articles of the draft law were approved. According to the approved articles, donations of food, cleaning supplies, clothing, and fuel to Darülaceze (a charitable institution for the elderly and disabled), as well as other donations and aid, will be exempt from VAT. Furthermore, the procedures and principles regarding public transportation vehicles, the scope of public transportation services, and free and discounted access to these services will be regulated by a regulation jointly issued by the Ministries of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Family and Social Services, after obtaining the opinions of the Ministries of Treasury and Finance, Interior, Labor and Social Security, and Transportation and Infrastructure. In addition, for each urban public transportation vehicle and private maritime transportation vehicle owned by private individuals or companies authorized by municipalities, monthly income support payments will be made to their operators through the relevant municipalities from the funds allocated for this purpose in the budget of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. |
